I discovered Hill & The Sky Heroes about a week ago from the Twitter pipelines – through a tweet by The Weeknd’s producer Illangelo. After doing some research, it turns out that the 21 year old Ryerson University student (real name Hill Kourkoutis), has already built an impressive resume. She plays backup on stage with acts such as The Weeknd and Tara Slone, writes music for other artists, works part-time at Toronto production company The Field, and has an interest in directing music videos + films.
With all her passions and talents, it’s clear where the influences come from, which transfer over to her music content as “Hill and The Sky Heroes“. Her latest work titled “11 EP” is a mixture of surf, pop, soul, glam an dub which makes it hard to define her sound. Artists that have the ability to create their own lane usually blur the lines between mainstream pop rock and underground garage rock. The EP only contains 4 tracks however, teasing you with each song, certainly leaving you wanting more.
Below you can preview the lead song on the EP titled “The Moon” while downloading the full project. Make sure to check back on 1VIBE for more content from “Hill & The Sky Heroes“.
